Winning a Dispute
A dispute is won before it is opened, in the records you kept while the order was happening. The person deciding is reading a log, not a mood, and the outcome follows the evidence, not the volume. Here is how to open one, what to include, and how the decision actually lands.
Open it early and in writing
The moment you know an order is wrong, open the dispute from the order page. State what happened, attach the listing, the messages, and the timestamps. Be specific. A dispute that is a paragraph of facts is faster to decide and easier to win than one that is a paragraph of frustration, because the decision is made on the record you submit.
The recommended split
Most disputes never reach a human. The system proposes a split the moment the dispute is opened, calculated from the order value, the time since shipment, and the vendor recent history. Both sides can accept it in one action and the escrow releases on the spot. It is faster and cheaper than the panel, and it is where most cases end.
The panel, when you need it
If neither side accepts, the panel reads the message log, the timestamps, and the shipping pattern before it signs. Expect three to seven days. The decision follows the written record, so the vendor who kept better notes wins more often than the buyer who argued louder. Keep the notes, and the outcome is on your side more often than not.
